nat4crim Posted April 3 #1 Share Posted April 3 Hello This July I will be co-leading a girl scout troop on an Alaskan cruise. Our last stop is Victoria, BC. It's only 4 hours. Realistically, will we have time to walk through Fisherman's Warf Park, continue on past the Fairmont Empress and then stop at BeaverTails for some treats (poutine, BeaverTails)?? And walk back to the ship and get back in time? Google Maps indicates it's a 35 minute walk each way. So 1 hour and 10 minutes. Plus we need time to explore the wharf, order the food, eat, get on and off the cruise ship. If it were just me and my family I'd do it but I want to be sure given it's not just my kids and don't want to deal with not getting back on the boat on time. How long does it generally take to disembark and embark the ship? https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Victoria,+BC+Cruise+Ship+Dock,+Victoria,+BC+V8V+1A1,+Canada/Fisherman's+Wharf+Park,+Erie+Street,+Victoria,+BC,+Canada/BeaverTails+Victoria,+Broughton+Street,+Victoria,+BC,+Canada/@48.4209823,-123.3758415,16.46z/data=!4m20!4m19!1m5!1m1!1s0x548f75af8ca97273:0x79190735e8e6046!2m2!1d-123.3899256!2d48.4165675!1m5!1m1!1s0x548f74a267347799:0x99c9ddbd4b5422e0!2m2!1d-123.3830139!2d48.42195!1m5!1m1!1s0x548f749a907d0b13:0x141e7c0cf5727ce!2m2!1d-123.3676449!2d48.4242559!3e2?entry=ttu
GORDONCHICK Posted April 3 #2 Share Posted April 3 That seems a little too ambitious. But I'm all in for the beaver tails!
Heidi13 Posted April 3 #3 Share Posted April 3 Completed that route many times and also taken the short cuts through James Bay. On departing the harbour, you don't have to follow Dallas Road past the Coast Guard Base, you can cut through James Bay coming out at the park. On leaving the park, rather than taking Kingston Street, between the park and the Worldmark condos, you can take the waterfront path, which is way more scenic and only adds a few extra minutes. You should be able to easily complete the return trip in 2.5 to 3 hrs, with lots of time for food and sightseeing.
nat4crim Posted April 3 Author #4 Share Posted April 3 Perfect thank you! We may take a cab to Beavertails and then walk back so there's no stress. I will add the waterfront path to our route.

Rare tetleytea Posted April 6 #7 Share Posted April 6 After all the rigamarole with boarding and waiting, walking it does not take that much longer than the bus.
