Mykonos transportation

Hi,

We will in Mykonos for the day on the Sun princess (arriving at noon and departing at 9pm). It looks like we will not be the first cruise in port so I assume we will be tendering.

Can anyone confirm if princess tenders into the “new port” or “old port”?

We are also interested in going to a restaurant/ beach club for the day which is about 15-20 minutes from either port. Can anyone recommend a car service we can hire for transportation? Or are taxis readily available? We want to avoid the bus to the restaurant/beach to maximize the peak part of the day.

Appreciate any tips / recommendations.

Just in Mykonos 2 days ago and tendered to the old port (downtown).  All the tenders were shore-based and that is where they go.  The new port can dock two cruise ships.

@Dgamcruiser39 - I will be on Sun Princess in July with the same docking time as you when we get to Mykonos.  I would appreciate it if you could please report back on how you were docked as I too am trying to have an idea on transportation.  We will be headed to one of the beaches, so was hoping we would tender to the old port and then I can take a water taxi to my beach of choice.

@trulaker9

We were docked at the new port (unsure if that is always the case).

We arranged transportation via SZS Mykonos Transportation to take us to a beach/restaurant of our choice. On the way back we used a local taxi (called by the restaurant) to drop us off in the old port and we walked around / shopped. We then took the water taxi from the old port to the new port to get back on the ship.

You can easily take the water taxi to the old port (2 euros one way) or princess had a shuttle bus (I think $15 usd roundtrip). I would recommend the water taxi for transportation between old/new port.

I would bet you will tender to the old port as pretty much all tenders go to the old port.

I'm on Royal's Voyager in Aug & attempting to book an independent excursion, figuring out where we're getting to land to setup transportation. While the cardinal rule is be flexible as I'm sure its subject to change, this seems like the best "rule of thumb" advice on the boards.  Much appreciated.

The tour providers keep track of the ship's port arrangements.  Just tell them the name of your ship and time and they will be at the appropriate place. You will also have each other's phone so they can get in touch.

This is not unique. It is the way they operate for the thousands of passengers they serve.
