Farang Posted May 5 #1 Share Posted May 5 I see on the Uniworld Facebook site that the Uniworld SS Victoria recently had a sailing canceled. Does anyone know anything about this?
Izengolf Posted May 5 #2 Share Posted May 5 I read in Feefo reviews that the River Princess had a motor stop working partway through a cruise and the FB comments were from at least one person that had a RP cancellation. I read one review of the SS Victoria saying there were mechanical issues with their room but 2 straight weeks of cancellations (April 21 and 28 sailings?) does not bode well. Rare notamermaid Posted May 5 #3 Share Posted May 5 Surprised to read that. I spotted the S.S. Victoria on the Rhine, she was sailing alright and is now in Basel. I could not see many people on the sun deck but then it was a cool day and they may have been busy in the lounge or something. It was not in the Rhine Gorge. She is now in Basel. notamermaid

I,too, saw the Feefo review about cancellations so I used Cruise News tracking to follow the SS Victoria last week. It appeared to not be on the published itinerary route or schedule (repairs?), but did eventually make its way to Basel. I hope they have it figured out and also hope those that were scheduled for the past few itineraries did not end up on the River Queen, which really needs a top -to-bottom re-do. We were on the River Queen in 2022 and it was so bad we switched to AMA after 6 consecutive Uniworld cruises
Farang Posted Sunday at 06:09 PM Author #5 Share Posted Sunday at 06:09 PM I have been checking on the SS Victoria's position daily using Cruisemapper for more than a week now and it appears to have been sitting at the same coordinates in Strasbourg the entire time. I wonder if the scheduled cruise(s) have turned into bus excursions?
Izengolf Posted Sunday at 06:23 PM #6 Share Posted Sunday at 06:23 PM I saw this too and, since she must be in Basel on June 16 for the President's Cruise, was at the wrong end of the itinerary. A search found a FB post from a passenger on the SS Antoinette (also at the wrong end) that they did a ship swap last week. I am guessing they need to do the same again to have Victoria in Basel and Antoinette in Amsterdam next week since the Ports section in the website says both departures will be on a different ship. There is still high water between Strasbourg and Basel so she might have to stay put until after the swap then sail to Basel to finish the Amsterdam to Basel cruise. It would be a very uneven swap. Victoria has much bigger rooms, fewer passengers and way more suites. Can't say I would be pleased to lose 60sqft of room space and a butler. I have to assume those passengers received a credit or compensation.
