In Halifax, NS, are taxis plentiful at the cruise pier and around town?

 

If so, how is the fare paid, Credit Card, Canadian Dollars cash or USA Dollars cash?

Is the fare metered or a set rate?

 

Are drivers tipped? if so, how much percentage wise?

 

What about Uber?

1.  Yes, taxis are plentiful near pier and around town.

2.  Pay fare with credit card or Canadian cash.  The driver may take USD but don't expect to get much of an exchange rate or USD back in change.

3.  Tip about 15% if you wish.

4.  Uber is available in Halifax.

Taxi fares are metered but there is a starting set rate, plus they add a little more if you have more than 1 person in the cab. I would pay with card or Canadian cash. Some taxis will put up a fuss if you pay card but just double check when you get in the cab. Tipping is expected, depending on level of service received. Ubers are also available and easy to use.
