Beach710 Posted March 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2006 We are cruising on the Sapphire Princess in April. While we are in Puerto Vallarta, my husband would like to check out the Palladium Vallarta Resort for a possible future vacation. It is located in the Nuevo Vallarta district. Is this too far to go from the port area? Any idea what a taxi would cost? Any information about this resort or the area it is in would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. MSN-Travelers Posted March 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2006 This all-inclusive resort is located on the far north end of the bay, beyond Nuevo Vallarta. It is listed as being 60 minutes from downtown, 40 minutes from the airport. That would put the cruise terminal about 50 minutes away. My estimate for a yellow taxi to the resort is about $25 US and maybe slightly higher for the return. DW and I haven't stayed out that far as it is a little too remote for our taste. Thanks for the response. It looks like you are a frequent visitor to the area. Is there anywhere to surf (with board rentals) closer to the port? That is the main reason my husband is interested in the Palldium Vallarta Resort. Someone told him there is surfing with board rentals right in front of the resort. gottago2mexico Posted March 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2006 For good surfing, you do have to go up there a ways toward the Sayulita area or even up to Playa San Francisco past Punta Mita. There is some near the Palladium, but not too exciting, from what I've heard, though I'm not a surfer to judge that. The Palladium is so far out, if you stay there, it is unlikely that you'll want to visit Puerto Vallarta - you'll probably just stay at your hotel. It's quite a ways up there from the cruise port as previously stated - well North of Nuevo Vallarta.
MSN-Travelers Posted March 31, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Johann & Sandra have pretty much got this one right. The best surf conditions I have seen are outside the bay on the pacific coast in the Playa San Francisco area. The bay is pretty sheltered and the wind/wave action in the bay doesn't generate good surf.
