Anyone Cruise on the Magic Lately?

Recommended Posts

Just got back Sunday. As everybody stated she is not a new ship. There is rusty spots on the balconies and some other places but I don't look for stuff like that. I'm on vacation. Nothing I saw was real noticeable. No car pet tears seats torn or anything that I saw. Had a good cruise and staff was great. Was my 27th cruise like I said I don't spend time looking for that kind of stuff just there to relax and enjoy.

She might be worn in areas but she will always be the newest Joe Farcus ship you can get on! She is the best conditioned Joe ship IMHO. I'm looking forward to sailing on her again next month after my last cruise on her had no cabin AC for 8 days and a non-responsive guest services staff.

Recently off Magic. Yes, she is getting tired in places for sure. Nothing affecting our cruise. Just kinda shabby in places.  🤷‍♀️  Staff great. Had 5 newbies in our group and they loved loved loved their cruise. lol

We have been on the Magic twice with a third cruise booked for January. The Magic is by far my favourite Carnival ship.   We have been on the Mardi Gras and Celebration and I would still pick the Magic over these 2 ships. ( They are way too big and crowded for our liking.) I Love the Ocean Plaza area in the evenings also on deck 4 there is a no smoking casino.  On our cruise on the Magic in December we didnt notice anything that stood out needing repair, sure there is rust, that is to be expected on a ship exposed to salt water?air  constantly.   Food and staff were great. We also enjoyed spending time in the Red Frog Pub.

We were on the Magic end of March/Start of April.   Thought she was a fine ship.  But I wasn't at work, so not much bothers me aesthetic wise.  I'm not going to let some faded carpet or scratched wall ruin a good vacation.

I liked the layout, I liked how the activities (say trivia) were in the center of the ship and not in the lobby(*) like some.  Looked clean to me.  Our cabin (deck 6 balcony) was great.   Food was good the whole time, in the MDR and Lido.  Staff was great.  Shows were good - even if they had to scale down one to barebones due to sea conditions.   About the only "issue" we had was trying to find loungers that were a) not in the sun and b) not in the smoking area.  We could find them, but the sun kept moving on us and they tended to be by the stacks and all that associated noise etc.  Or they were too close to the lido pool area which is noise and traffic I didn't want while trying to read.  1st world problem here!!!

Would sail on her again in a heartbeat.

(*) Signs and things kept referring to the Magic Lobby.  I kept wondering what I was missing about it that made it magic...it took 4 out of the 5 days to realize that it was because it was the Lobby on the Magic ship.  So yeah...brain was in vacation mode for sure!

NOW our bartenders said the key to Carnival is to avoid short cruises--they tend to be "booze" cruises.

KKB you are so right.  That is also true with other lines including some of the "upscale".
