10 night Mediterranean. Is there a pattern to Gala/formal night?

First time with Princess, and looking to start booking dinners in the planner, but don't when Gala/formal night night will be. Does Princess tend to do them on sea days or day before (or another...)? Have 2 sea days in 10 night from Rome in September. Thanks.

Usually, they are scheduled on the 1st Sea Day and another Sea Day near the end of the cruise, but never the night before disembarkation. If there isn't another Sea Day, it will often be a day when there is an earlier departing from the port. All that being said, they do sometimes switch things up. For example, in February we were on a cruise over Valentine's Day and they made that day the formal night even though it didn't follow any of the other 'rules'. 🙂

From what you describe it appears that you are on the Sept. 25th sailing of the Island Princess RT Civitavecchia. My guess would be that the formal nights would be the two sea days, Sunday the 29th and Thursday the 3rd. The first formal night could be one of the early port days where the ship sails at 5pm, but I think the two sea days are the best guess at this time. On formal nights there is usually some sort of event in the Piazza area around 5pm.

Thanks - the sea days make sense and what I assumed, but certainly didn't want to assume.
