love2travel2146 Posted June 21 #1 Share Posted June 21 Hello, I have read that Grote Knip beach requires beach shoes to get into, yet when I look at the photos it looks like a sandy entry. Can anyone comment? Also, what would be the approximate cost to get there from the cruise port? Is there a bus, or do we need to rely on taxi? First time visiting the island so trying to figure it all out. Thanks for any input.
EatonDoolittle Posted June 21 #2 Share Posted June 21 Water shoes are a good idea for all those natural westside beaches, like on Bonaire. Rocks and coral are what makes the snorkeling so good there. There is nothing to see snorkeling on a sandy beach. If you want plain sandy beaches, you can go to the manmade Mambo beach which is what a lot of cruisers do. Taxi to any of those (Puerto Mari, Cas Abo, Grote Knip) will be on the high side, approx. $100 or more r/t. You might enjoy an excursion, through your ship, or with Irie Tours, which used to have a full day trip that stops at several of the beaches. Or some rent a car and visit several on your own. I don't know of any scheduled bus that makes that route. Someone else will surely comment.
love2travel2146 Posted June 21 Author #3 Share Posted June 21 Thanks for this information. Do you know which car rental is both reliable and close to the cruise terminal? Thanks.
EatonDoolittle Posted June 21 #4 Share Posted June 21 I don’t know, but if you scroll just a bit, there are 2 threads about car rentals on this first page.
