cusematt4 Posted June 30 #1 Share Posted June 30 Hi all, We have booked with a travel agent and paid in full with our Amex platinum card and gotten the cruise privileges benefits. It did not have to be through Amex travel but just a travel agent who knew how to apply the benefits. With ncl we got 200 obc per balcony plus a dinner at le Bistro. If our friends booked through Marriott travel and applied some points but paid for the post points balance with Amex platinum, are they eligible for Amex platinum cruise privileges benefits? Or does partial points payment disqualify them? Thank you.
RocketMan275 Posted June 30 #2 Share Posted June 30 The only way you'll get a definitive answer is to call AMEX and ask.
cusematt4 Posted June 30 Author #3 Share Posted June 30 Thanks. Amex says it must be booked through Amex travel. That’s not true as hundreds or travel agents apply this if paid in full with Ames platinum card. So just hoping to find actually correct info and prior experience. Do you plan on telling AMEX that some anonymous poster on the internet told you that AMEX was providing incorrect information?

That is correct that it does not need to be booked through AmEx Travel, but it does need to be booked through an AmEx travel agent partner. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to name travel agents on CC, but there are many franchises and national agents who are affiliated with AmEx that will apply the benefits. We've used an AmEx partnered TA for several years, about 10 cruises, and have never had a problem with getting AmEx benefits applied or using them. The OBC will appear on your NCL account at boarding, so don't worry if you don't see it right away.
