OBC with a casino booking

Hello all.  January was our first MSC cruise on the Mera and we were in the YC and received some OBC.  We booked another Mera cruise for January 25 through the casino on a comp but was told that there would be no OBC when the website $400 for YC.  This seems odd.  Does this sound right to any of the casino comp regulars here?

Thanks for any help

I just took my first MSC cruise last month, and it was a casino comp.  Before I booked it, I saw a really good deal on the website so I called in to book it for the freebies.  I was told that casino comps didn't get the specials.  I was disappointed because all my previous cruise had been on NCL with casino comps.  but with NCL, you get whatever specials/add-ons are being offered

Thank you for the info.

I had taken 26 casino comped cruises from NCL including some Haven comps.  After 1 with MSC I will most likely be using them now, I hope my next MSC cruise goes as well as my first one. I will still get what I can from NCL but not for much longer.

Unfortunately, you do not get any of the extras but you also do not have to pay port fees and taxes and the NCL admin fee on most casino bookings.

This next 10 day MSC cruise is only costing me $2200 all in for a duplex YC room.  I had a balcony comp and the $2200 was the YC upgrade fee.  If I had a balcony comp on NCL the total cost after an upgrade to the Haven would be around $8500 for a comparable room.

my first MSC cruise, I had a comp OV, which ended up being upgraded to balcony for free.  The comp I have now is for a balcony and I do have the option for upgrading to YC for $2200.  Normally, I would just stay with the freebie, but I've been reading about the difference in sailing in YC, and for such a relatively low upgrade fee, I think I may do it.  Otherwise, I was probably not going to give MSC another try.

true.  and NCL just took away the free drinks with their bookings, unless you're in the top tiers of their players club

quick question, when you booked and upgraded, were you forced to pay the full amount up front?  The cruise I'm looking at isn't until next June, so I was just going to put down the $400 deposit and pay the remaining amount at final payment.  The MSC agent I was working with said I'd have to pay the full amount at booking.  I haven't call back to see if another person gave the same answer or not.  Also, did you pay $2200 total, or $2600 which would be the customary $400 deposit plus the upgrade cost?  thanks

All of my YC upgrades through the Casino Comps were payment due in full at time of booking.  However, each time I upgraded to YC, they informed me they waived the $400 deposit and I just had to pay the upgrade cost for the room.  The deposit is typically for upgrades to other tiers than YC.

It was $2200 total for everything upfront.  To me this was a no-brainer.  The first MSC cruise we took in January in the YC was very comparable to the Haven.  Some things better, some worse but very equal in the end.

We have been required to pay the upgrade but they have not had to pay the $400 deposit.  I had called on time and the rep was not very knowledgeable and was trying to charge both.  I insisted I never had to do that in the past and they disagreed.  I just said nevermind and called back and got another rep that did it correctly.

Another question.  Are all of the rooms for the YC the same $2200 upgrade?  I booked a duplex suite which I thought might be more than the deluxe that I was looking at.

Also I was comped a 10 day world balcony but what if I was only comped an inside what would the upcharge have been?

It is tiered.  I remember seeing in a post on here the costs from each level room to a YC deluxe suite but I couldn't say which post.  I think from an inside to YC currently it is around $3,000 something like that.

the upgrade would cost $3,350.  It's $500 per person to add more people to the room outside the two that the original comp is good for
