Honingsvaag

Recommended Posts

Hi Yáll,

I booked a cruise with my family on Holland America Nieuw Statendam, dept. Amsterdam on Aug 24th, I would like to ask about Honingsvaag, what excursion to take for visiting the Northcape from Honingsvaag, your suggestions and feedback will be appreciated.

We were on the same cruise in May this year and used Blue Puffin Tours. Highly recommend them!  It was a great tour, exactly as set out on their website. https://www.blue-puffin.com/en/#north_cape_sightseeing_tour_english_wrapper

We lucked into a fabulous day weather wise, clear and relatively warm for May at  12C. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable with lots of personal stories and perspective. If you act quickly, there seem to be a few spaces left on their 12:15 pm tour on August 29.

Blue Puffin and North Cape Tours have been previously mentioned in threads. and there may be others if you internet search.

Should you want to share with others, which may lower the cost, you could check your Roll Call to see if any fellow passengers have arranged a private tour and are  looking for others like yourselves to share. Or plan one yourself and ask on the Roll Call if anyone wants to join you.

And your ship will offer shorex.

Another vote for Blue Puffin.

The ship’s tour just went to the Cape and back, they didn’t even have a guide for commentary along the way.

The Blue Puffin tour was excellent, small group in a minivan, made stops at a couple of small fishing villages and was half the cost of the Princess tour!

We just got back from our cruise on the Sky Princess and booked the Blue Puffin tour for Honningsvag. It was excellent - definitely book with them and do it earlier rather than later because they do book up.

Was in Honnigsvag last week. We hired a car from Nordkapp Bilservice AS which worked out well as there was 4 of us. For reference all their cars were reserved for the day. It is best to have something booked in advance but don’t panic if you can’t get booked on a tour pre- cruise.  There were guides advertising a few free spaces on tours at the dock.

We did the North Cape Express last year.  Quick stop at a town and native trading post, then a lot of time at North Cape.  Waffles!  Kind of weird that bus leaves you there, gets another group, and then picks you up but your guide stays behind at North Cape to organize things.

Don't trust the packaged T-shirt sizes at North Cape.  Adult XL might fit an adult S.
