Carnival’s new booking layout

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else confused.  When I sign into my ca naval profile to book a new cruise…it’s completely different. I used to go into my offers and select the offer I want to book under and go from there…Now I can’t click on the offer …what’s going on?

Not to be flippant, but have you considered using a PVP?  We haven't tried to book a cruise ourselves in years.

I always know what cruise and what rate I want to book before I call my PVP, so it seems a reasonable question to me. I'm not going to call my PVP about once a week and ask "Are there any offers good enough this week to tempt me into booking?"

To the OP: I see what you mean. It doesn't show all the cruise prices for a given offer code together, it splits them up by itinerary. Seems difficult to use that way. I guess you can just search for the cruise that interests you first, and then see the prices under the various offer codes after you find the cruise.

That new layout is brutal! They make everything so difficult to use and "fix" things that were not broken. You can click on deals and then select  "show all my cruise deals" and it will show them in a new pop up. I don't care for it but thats the only thing I have found that will show the offers available.

I appreciate your reply, thank you.  I also have NEVER booked a cruise without using my wonderful PVP.  I like to be able to navigate the cruises along with my offers before I call her and have a bit of a idea of what I might be looking at.  I am simply trying g to figure out where my personal offers went.  Thanks again ,I think someone has answered my question in another post. have a great day.

It looks like the new layout is only if you go to "My Offers". If you search without the offers page, it shows the old way. Either way, the new offers page is not great.

HATE the new search engine.  Why not introduce features that actually help filter results, like being able to only search for 8 day cruises instead of the range of 6-9 days? Or filtering for a certain port instead of "Caribbean" or "Europe"?

Oh wow! I didn't know about PVP.

Based on another thread on CC, I need to do that going forward.

Booking it myself was very frustrating because I wanted to select my own cabin and it kept defaulting to them assigning.

You can do what you want. Click duration and then choose the day length.

To select a specific port, go to the Explore tab > Destinations > choose region > then choose what port you want to go to > View Sailings.

I do agree that the search filters should be way better and easier than what I just described.

I never found it much of a hassle to click on "select your own cabin" - has it become more annoying to get to that stage?

We always book ourselves, never having had a need for a PVP. I'm pretty sure Carnival assigned one to us at one point, but never went down that path.

Also, it looks like your reply contains a quote from a completely different thread (not sure how you did that) - you might want to report your own post and ask a Mod to delete that portion.

I just did a mock booking.  Meh, mildly different from last time, IIRC - once you select a cabin type for the itinerary/date you like, it defaults to something that you can book right away, but then you can click on "change room", and that just starts the detailed process of re-selecting cabin type, fare type, and the specific location & cabin number.

I actually did go to "My Offers" and the old way shows for me. No matter where I start or what I click on, I still see it the "old" way. We don't get casino offers (except for one crazy high priced offer) so maybe Carnival figured they were wasting their time updating my view. 😂

We actually use the search engine for a very popular internet travel agency and then call our PVP if we see something we like. It's very robust, including filters for date ranges, number of days, specific ship, ports you want to visit, embarkation port, etc.

The cool thing in the past was that if you had a great offer (like a casino comp), you could click on my offers and just see the cruises you could book with that offer. Some offers did not apply to all cruises. It's confusing. I initially thought I lost my offers and freaked out. You can use the filters to filter by offer to get something similar to the old offer view. I agree it would be nice to be able to filter by ports of call. Sometimes I want to filter by multiple ports, like show me a list of all the cruises that go to both HMC and Grand Turk, and to do that, I need to use Vacations to To, and then cross refence it with the carnival site, and see if any of my offers apply.

I hate the new "offers" page layout. Too confusing to have to sift through each cruise's offers to find the cruise/offer I want.

Carnival's I.T. has never heard the adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it". They love changing the website just as I start finding it useful.  Their website can be buggy, their onboard APP can be buggy, their onboard system seems to always be buggy. My wife and I were given Carnival gift cards as anniversary presents from family and when we went to add them to our S&S accounts they told us they had a zero balance😬. A little while later the balances mysteriously showed up when we again presented the cards and the GS person couldn't explain it.

The onboard Chat feature is buggy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And I won't even get started about the onboard Internet connectivity issues.

Carnival's I.T. needs to step up their game.

Oh lordie, yes.

Since Carnival's site is really sluggish and graphics-heavy I have a feeling I use the same booking site as staceyglow:

And the filters work smoothly, letting you select them and THEN invoke them for a list.  Makes it easier 2 go directly to the vacation cruises you want.

OK, that's weird, because [as another poster noted] if I go to the Carnival site (logged in or not) and "plan -> find a cruise", I can choose exactly how many days for the duration.  So it must be how you drill down into the offers:
