Getting to Brooklyn cruise port?

Recommended Posts

Good morning all,

I just booked my first-ever cruise from NY on Princess.  The itinerary says departure is from Manhattan or Brooklyn, but many forum posts say most likely Brooklyn.

I will be traveling via Amtrak the night before from Mass.  Because hotel rates in NY are so high, I thought maybe I'd take the train to Newark Penn Station and walk across the street to the Doubletree, which is about half the price of many NY hotels. Then the morning of the cruise, I could take the airport shuttle to EWR where I would get the Princess transfer to take me right to the pier.

Does this make sense?

Thanks.

I think that by the time you add in the costs of the Princess transfer, extra train fare, and not to mention the extra time, you'll find it easier to get a hotel in Manhattan or Brooklyn and take a taxi.
