Chips401 Posted August 21 #1 Share Posted August 21 Does anyone know if there is something special the last weekend in September? I'm trying to buy tickets for the Acropolis on Sept. 28th and the all the ticket sites are blanked out, thus not allowing any ticket purchases. I can't imagine they would be sold out the whole day? Did you try internet searching something like "Athens events September 2024" or similar but with the actual dates?😀
Rare VMax1700 Posted August 22 #3 Share Posted August 22 There is a 'concert' at the Acropolis on the evening of September 28th so between set up and break down the area will be closed. https://www.nuclearblast.com/blogs/news/septicflesh-announce-concert-live-under-the-acropolis-of-athens
caribbeanluvr Posted August 26 #4 Share Posted August 26 The Acropolis is free that weekend. Lots of museums too. They do it every year. You can't buy tickets but you can just show up.

Over the years we have been caught out in several cities across Europe when there is a "free entry day" to museums, monuments, castles palaces etc Our experience has been that there are often extremely long lines for entry, occasionally due to capacity having been reached, with the line controlled on a "2 out/2 in" (or whatever number) basis. And once inside too crowded. We learned the hard way to avoid "free entry" dates but perhaps you will have more luck than we did..
