Amending a booking

I am travelling on Queen Elizabeth next year (Alaska) and had originally booked Britannia but after travelling in the Grills this summer on QM2 I was looking to upgrade! Have just spoken to Cunard who informed me that the cost to upgrade to Princess Grill from Britannia is based on the fares at the time of booking not the current fares. 

 

At the moment Princess Grill is priced at £6798 but the fare I have been offered is £8500 (price at the time of booking). 

I assume this is sadly correct?

Yes, for a UK booking unless you cancel (& lose your deposit) and rebook.

Is your original booking a Cunard fare ? Could you transfer that one and then make a new booking for Princess Grill?

Yes. I have had this issue recently. Lost the deposit and rebooked. The amount of OBC I received with the new booking covered the deposit loss.
