Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted September 12 #2 Share Posted September 12 We haven't been there yet, either, but will be there next summer! Though we have an excursion planned for the morning (Spirit of St. Maarten), we have the afternoon free. Our plan is to go to Great Bay Beach. It's a 20 minute walk from the port, or there is a water taxi that goes from the port right to the beach for $7 per person, round trip. There is also a Boardwalk there. I know there are other options that involve travel, but we didn't think they were worth even considering with only a few hours available for us. If we planned the whole day as a beach day, I would have looked into them.

Many will suggest and recommend Great Bay, but please compare the ambiance, before making a decision, and experiencing “buyers remorse”, for Great Bay. PORT ROYAL Posted September 12 #4 Share Posted September 12 If one has the urge to visit Great Bay, then forgo the Babylon masses, the potential of raw sewage, and venture further to Little Divi…

WisCruiser2 Posted September 19 #6 Share Posted September 19 For closer to Phillipsburg, take a look at Divi Little Bay, about a 10 - 15 minute taxi ride. You can rent loungers at the resort (IIRC, $20/2 + umbrella), with a very nice beach, bar, and food.
