Paying for Sail&Sign Card

I know you're supposed to use a credit card to pay for your sign&sail card, but one person in our group was wondering if there was any way to use cash for it, such as putting a certain amount down in deposit at the beginning

No problem using cash....funding your "sign and sail" card like a "debit card".

Yes, Carnival has a limit of what you must put down if you use cash. Just give them a call with the length of the cruise and your friend will know what is expected.

Registration for this program will occur at the time of embarkation. Carnival accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and cash for deposit on your account. A deposit (ranging from $100 to $350 depending on cruise duration) will be required for cash accounts.

If you are using a credit card or debit/check cashing card please be advised that there will be a hold placed on your account as a deposit for your onboard purchases. During your cruise additional holds will be added if your Sail & Sign® account exceeds the amount of deposit Carnival has on file. If you presented a credit card, this will reduce the amount available on your credit card for other purchases. If you presented a debit/check cashing card, the hold will restrict the available cash in your checking account. All charges will be billed to the credit card or debit/check cashing card at the end of the cruise.

BOARDING CARD

Your Sail & Sign Card will serve as your Boarding Card. This card identifies you as a Carnival guest and must be carried with you along with picture identification when you go ashore. Because the ship is closed to the public while docked at the various ports-of-call, you’ll have to show your Sail & Sign Card and picture I.D. to the officer on duty in order to return on board.

WE used cash for our 2nd and 3rd cruises because we didn't want a credit card bill when we got home. For a 7 day it is 250 on the card at boarding. We always put about 700 bucks (the hubby has a big bar bill) and if there is any left at the end of the trip they give it to you in a check the last night or early next a.m. WE also watch on the TV and if we are getting low we go to the pursars desk and add more. WE will be doing it this way again in May

Another way to do it is to give them a credit card at the beginning of the week, but then stop by the purser's desk and pay off your bill in cash. We ended up doing this on our last cruise because we (gasp) actually won money in the casino! This way, our credit card was never charged.

i didnt want to carry a huge amount of cash on my cruise so i paid for my sail and sign with a travelers check. when i got close to the amount i gave them another one. any left over amount was returned to me the night before in the amount of a check. very easy and safe. have a great time.
