pompeii Posted September 24 #1 Share Posted September 24 I'm hoping someone has experience flying domestically in South Africa. We'll be flying from Johannesburg to Cape Town next March, and all of the domestic airlines in South Africa have quite mixed reviews. I was looking for anyone with experience flying South Africa Airways, Fly Safair, Lyft, or Airlink who could maybe offer their experience to help me make a choice. Sarnia 432 Posted September 30 #2 Share Posted September 30 We flew Safair in February from Johannesburg to Cape Town. To be honest I can’t really remember the flight, I checked my diary and I had written “Check in and security at the airport was very smooth and we sat enjoying cold drinks and snacks until it was to board. The plane took off on time for the 2 hour flight to Cape Town, landing on time. The bags were starting to arrive on the luggage belt as we got there and we were quickly on our way.”
Zach1213 Posted October 16 #3 Share Posted October 16 I wouldn't put too much trust in airline reviews. Plus, "mixed reviews" is basically South Africa in a nutshell. I could say more as a Namibian but I'll leave them alone 😉 I like Airlink quite a bit and would take them if all other things are equal. Never really had a bad experience. FlySafair is your typical low-cost carrier, and make sure you know every cost associated with it, but beyond that they're a fine airline. Haven't flown SAA in years, on purpose. Never flown LIFT.
