chrismch Posted March 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2006 We are flying across country and won't get into the airport until 8:30pm. Last time we stayed at Pier 66(jan 06) and didn't get to the hotel until 9:15-9:30 tried to eat at their coffee shop but their wait staff was must have been on break as tables were un-bussed and diners said the service they were getting was extremely slow. So we decided to go for a 1 mile walk and discovered most restaurants stop serving around 9:30 mid week and fast food places close at 10:00 with the exception of one ff mex place that was open 24 hrs. It was a great location for our next full day in town and we enjoyed using the water taxi. However, this time we will be flying in for only a Sat night stay in Dec 06 and are trying to decide where to stay. What we need is a comfortable bed in a quiet room. The hotel should have an in-house coffeeshop or nearby breakfast place. We don't plan on sight-seeing or shopping and will be getting on the boat at noon the next day. Pre-checked rates at the Holiday Inn Express and Embassy suites and they're around $200 for that time frame. Any other suggestions for something more reasonable and ez access to the port?:p
chrismch Posted March 30, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Oops made a mistake on previous post!! We will be arriving on Fri - 3 days before Christmas. Did some add'l searching and reviewing these posts and would like feedback on 2 hotels....Hampton Inn Plantation and La Quinta Inn & Suites in Hollywood, FL. Both offer free shuttles & breakfast at about $112 as opposed to DH input of the Westin at $149 and adding $$ for the taxi and breakfast.:p
Bequia Posted March 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2006 You'll find more answers to your question over on the "Hotels" thread. The Airport La Quinta is very popular among cruisers on these boards. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=322594

Surrounded by hotels that rent by the hour, not by the night. This one in particular has been cited as being dirty, noisy, smelly and just downrite nasty. It sits on a truck route that's active 24 hours a day. There are no shops or restaurants to walk to unless your into pawn shops and check cashing stores.Search the hotel threads you'll see many of your fellow Cruise Critic posters have reported the same. stephp6 Posted April 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2006 The Comfort Inn in Hollywood on Stirling Rd. is fine for one night and they will shuttle you to the port. 5 minutes from the airport too. We stayed there with 50 other friends before our cruise. You can walk to restaurants, movies, and a Dave & Busters.
