margmx Posted April 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2006 You can also fly to Nice. Nice is 2 1/2 hours from Savona on the train. There are direct flights from New York City to Nice, so that is another option. It was much cheaper for us and more direct to fly from Nice. We are flying from Mexico City to New York and New York to Nice. You could probably do the same thing from Ontario. Marguerite
SailingOceansBlue Posted April 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2006 We did a cruise out of Savona last year and flew into Milan. From Milan, you can take a bus directly to the central train station. It's about a 30 minute ride and cost appoximately $5 USD. We stayed overnight in Milan at a hotel just a couple of blocks from the train station. Very nice and very cheap (about $70 USD). It was called The Madison. The next morning we took a train (a very scenic ride) directly to Savona. It was about 2.25 hours and cost roughly $40 USD. We finished it off with a 10 minute cab ride to the port (about $15). Brian
susanp Posted April 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2006 I am booked on Costa out of Savona in May, and am flying directly into Genoa--on Lufthansa. (actually, their partner, Air Dolomiti, does the Munich-Genoa leg.)
