etoile Posted April 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2006 Bermuda is a small island with three ports. How many ships can dock at the island before it gets majorly crowded? It looks like Hamilton usually has two ships at a time, Kings Wharf has one at a time (sometimes two), and usually two at a time at St. George. So there could be about five or six ships there at any given time. Most ships carry at least 1000 pax and sometimes many more. How crowded is Bermuda? Swizzle v2.0 Posted April 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2006 It's already crowded here (>3000 people per sq. mile) so an extra few thousand isn't that big of a deal. Certain spots (Front Street, St. Georges, certain beaches, some bus routes) are more crowded when ships are in.
etoile Posted April 7, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Yikes! I hadn't realized that. I just looked it up and Bermuda is tied for the 4th most dense population in the world.
Swizzle v2.0 Posted April 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Yes Bermuda has a high population density but is not like Hong Kong or some other large city - the island is more like a suburb from end-to-end instead of 20+ storey high-rises everywhere. Lots of homes with lawns etc. Not a lot of open & unspoiled areas though, what Bermudians call a 'small park' most North Americans would call a vacant lot. :)
