Rare uktog Posted April 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2006 We have already prepaid our tips however we usually give certain "star" performers - yet to be identified of course - some additional reward at the end of the cruise. I know the crew often use these to buy little "treats" in port so would you suggest we set aside some Euros for this or would they still prefer dollars, in which case we will need to get some before we go. I read somewhere that the crew often get time off during the long stop in Germany which is why I was thinking of Euros. I am assuming few of them get ashore at Dover so sterling is probably less attractive
greeneg Posted April 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Since what you are suggesting is "above and beyond" the usual tips, that those people receiving the additional tips will be very happy to accept your gift in whatever currency you choose to give it. Have a wonderful time.....
lysolqn Posted April 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2006 Safest bet is to tip in US dollars as this is the "gold standard" on X ships no matter where they're sailing.
Rare uktog Posted April 10, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 10, 2006 Thanks - I was just wanting to avoid making life difficult for my "stars"! Here is hoping I have lots of them to reward!
