All Confused... Cat G/Deck 3 or Cat I/Deck 8 HELP!

Recommended Posts

I am planning on a 3 Night Bahamas cuise on Majesty Of The Sea with my two Daughters (7 and 14) in June. My travel agent booked me for a category G on Deck 3. When I check on the Royalcaribbean.com site, I found a better rate on Deck 8, a category I.

My question is, I thought the higher the deck, the more expensive... since its noted on the site that all category G rooms are with obstructed views, why is it more expensive? Should I stick with my travel agent's choice or should I take Deck 8/cat I? I am all confused. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's Deck 8 G cabins that have an obstructed view - the lifeboats hang at that level. Personally, I like Deck 3 because it's convenient to so much more than Deck 8 is. Yes, it's nice to be just three decks down from the Windjammer and pool decks, but Deck 3 is at Centrum level, and one deck from Purser's and Explorations Desks, and internet cafe, same level as dining room (or one deck away), two decks from shops, two decks from the casino, two decks from the main theatre, two decks from the Schooner Bar.........

We had a oceanview on deck 8 on the Sovereign (first one in from the disco). It was one of my favorite rooms. The "window" was actually big enough to sit curled up and people watch as they walked by outside. It was fun watching people come back from the muster drill.
