Many people like them but I'm slightly more "tailored", I guess, and as a purse--that's way too big. I carry a tote bag for work, which at least offers me a little organization, but the Big Bag trend is passing me by:p

I guess it says that it comes with a long strap..... looks really long to me compared to the one in that picture!

Okay, that one looks like a messenger bag.

I have a Prada messenger bag that I use as a handbag when I travel because it works so much better than just a handbag.

When I'm in a walking city (New York, London, etc) I can put a change of shoes, umbrella, sweater or scarf, baby powder, bandaids, and all my other stuff I carry around as well as purchases.

I don't wear messenger bags across my chest--my boobs are too big. Otherwise, I'd like BlueHerons' idea for travel--but as it is, I stick to tote bags.

As a carry-on, would probably work--but again--is there any organization? Throwing everything into a large bag with no divisions is a recipe for disaster when I travel:rolleyes:

This to me is not a messenger bag. A messenger bag has a long strap as someone else said and a flap. This looks like the "new style hobo" that I saw in NYC.

This is the bag I splurged on for my trip to NYC

I did not end up wearing it messenger style although it was very easy to switch. I did use it shoulder style and it was perfect for me. I could keep my planner, mini umbrella, glasses case, sunglasses case, cosmetic bag, pashmina/scarf and gloves in it. I also used it to put in my purchases along the way. VERY convenient! On my way home through Penn Station, I had it stuffed and it held a ton but was really too heavy to carry for a long period. I probably should have switched it to messenger at that point to distribute the weight better. The front and inside pockets were very well placed for my blackberry/cell, money, id case, lipstick, pens and a tiny notepad (I keep track of my expenses with). This is definately replacing my tote and I would love to get one in a summer color too!
