Lattitudes Certificate

Has anyone had problems claiming their Latitudes certificate? I booked a cruise through a travel agency and told her about the $550.00 certificate that I had. She suggested I mail the coupon to NCL even though the reservation specialist at NCL said I didn't need to do that, because it would be taken off when the reservation was linked to my Latitudes number. I certified mailed the coupon anyway. Now NCL is saying that the money has already been applied. That the cruise was actually $550.00 more and the money I paid included the deduction. I don't see anywhere on my confirmation that the total price I was quoted, included the $550.00 deduction. The NCL reservationist said they would have given the travel agent the total price with the $550.00 amount already figured in, but that cannot be true, because when the travel agent initially booked our cruise, she did not even put our lattitudes number in there and had us in as if we were new passengers. We asked her to correct this so our name could be linked up with our Lattitudes account which she did. This is really making me mad, I mean its not like I am getting something for nothing. I paid $500.00 for that certificate. In fact, I did have a $100.00 off coupon from the entertainment book, but the travel agent said I could not use it, because she was already taking a hit by discounting the cruise. This is getting frustrating. You call five people at NCL and you get five different answers!

I believe you can confirm the discount by asking for a confirmation from NCL... The $550 certificate should only be attached to 1 guests Latitude #, therefore the confirmation should show 1 person paying $550 less than the other person.

We had no problem at all using ours. Our TA told NCL that I had bought into the gold latitude level and sure enough the $550 credit was attached to my latitudes #.

Well NCL has explained that they have deducted the $550.00 cruise rewards certificate that I had, so it is the travel agent who needs to issue me a refund. Really hard to get information from NCL, because they refuse to answer questions when you book through a travel agent. I've tried calling the agent, but all lines are busy and I'm beginning to get suspicious. This is the first time I have used this travel agency. I've talked to my credit card company and I have until May 27th to dispute the charge. The cruise is May 20th and we will still be gone then. I'm going to wait to give her a chance to call me back, but if she doesn't I guess I'm going to have to dispute the charge. We already have the tickets, but I'm just afraid there will be a problem with the cruise. A friend suggested I give her the information and she will fax the dispute to the credit card company on May 25th. I'm not sure I want to do that though. I guess its sometimes better to stick with companies you know. I found this company from Cruise Compete.
