Riverside Hotel on Las Olas

We have made reservations for pre-cruise...anyone stayed here?

Tnt,

The Riverside is a great hotel with a great location. Lots of restaurants and shopping all right there. If you can, make sure you request a room in the newer tower. They are much nicer than the older rooms.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the replies. Made reservations...included continental breakfast. We could have had full american breakfast for a few extra $, but didn't think we'd want that much before boarding... I'm not really a breakfast person. Loved reading the other's reviews.

  • 3 weeks later...

We stayed for 1 night pre-cruise in January. A nice hotel - good location - but not close to the beach. We had a room in the Executive Tower which was quite new- large- clean and well furnished. We took a taxi to the port for around $25.00 we sat in traffic for a while otherwise it would have been some what cheaper. We paid $209 breakfast included for the hotel. It was New Years Day which make the rate more expensive.

We stayed here in March in the older section. Not nice, not worth it, and particularly a poor choice if you were had a kid along, which we did. Though the room was booked for 3, the bed was so big that with the rollaway in the room you had to physically climb over the bed to get to the bathroom. Not great at 3 a.m. Also, we went nuts with the a/c -- it either was on (and really cold) or off (and the room quickly got stuffy and hot). Turned out the next morning that we were supposed to know (how?) that the a/c was controlled by a thermostat close to the entrance to the room. They also didn't order the cab that we had arranged the night before for an early morning departure. You cross the street and go down the block if you want to use the pool; it closes early.

On the good side, the Las Olas neighborhood is very interesting and a great place to people watch. As an adults-only hotel stay this would have been acceptable, particularly if we'd have figured out the a/c situation. The bedding was lovely and the toiletries were top-notch. It just didn't work with 3 in the room, at least for us.
