Platinum status question?

;) I've been reading this board for a few months and I'm a new poster to this board, but a semi-experienced cruiser. Hubby & I have compleated 5 cruises to date (all on Carnival) with #6 (Alaska Sept 06) & #7 (Southern Caribbean Feb 07) booked. We LOVE cruising and are very pleased with Carnival. I can't seem to find the answer to my question any where. I have written my PVP from Carnival and can't seem to get an answer from her either. I figure someone on this board will know the answer to any question! What length of cruise counts toward Platinum status with Carnival. We are considering a back to back, fall of 07,but it would consist of a four day followed by a five day. I want to make sure a four day cruise would count toward our goal to become Plantinum status. I know Platinum starts at 10 cruises (I'm not sure if it is at 10 or after 10?) Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Your Platinum status will start as you board your 10th cruise, and according to members who posted in the following thread the shorter cruises do count toward that total:

As BrendaB1 mentioned, you should check and make sure all of your past cruises are credited to you properly. Sometimes they might not show up because a name was listed differently (something like a middle initial or no middle initial). The sooner you verify that info the quicker you can get it fixed if needed.

We have just returned from sailing on the Fascination last week, and I got to peek at the list that the casino has of all of the platinum members.I mention this only because it had Cindy and myself down for 17 cruises, the same total I had which includes all of our sailings, even the cruises to no-where.It is quite possible that any length cruise counts.Just a thought.

All cruises count...regardless of length. 3/4/5/7 and beyond. That is why the "perks" are not as hefty as the perks you get on Princess. Princess does not do 3/4 etc. On your Back to Back, you will get credit for 2 cruises...because you are taking 2 cruises (you just happen to be taking them REALLY close together!) Now if you take a 10 or 12 day cruise, that is still ONE cruise.

Happy cruising!

I beg to differ. Princess does count the 3 day cruises. Sorry, did you mean have 3/4 day cruises or count the 3/4 day cruises? Princess has 1 or 2 day cruises as a matter of fact. Lots of repositioning cruises in May and Sept. and they all count towards each level of membership.

Cindy and I each got a bag...and with the kids sailing with us this july (they are platinum also), we will have so many we might have to sell them on e-bay.Still the bags are nice.

Thanks to everyone for the replys. I figured this board would provide answers when I couldn't find them anywhere else! Yes all of our cruises show on our Carnival list. All of the ones we have taken (and the two we have booked) have been 7 days or longer. That is why we wondered if a shorter cruise would count toward Platinum. Glad to hear a 4 or 5 day will count as we are planning to book a few shorter length cruises in 07. We're trying to get the most cruising time possible out of our avalible vacation time. Thanks Cosmo

I meant that Princess does not offer the number of 3/4 that Carnival does. Yes, I know that Princess counts all cruises, just as Carnival does.

Don't forget the wash and fold (I did tip extra)...

You are sooo right. I loved the wash and fold. When I just read this perk I thought, well, no big deal. But on the Pride I used it twice and it was wonderful. (I also tipped each time.)
