NYblondie Posted May 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2006 Our last cruise was a Caribbean cruise on Royal. We were able to buy a bottle of alcohaol onboard (duty free) and for an additional cost take it to our cabin. We are taking an Alakan cruise latter this month on Princess and are wondering if they also offer the duty free and allow you to take it to your cabin? Tania Posted May 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2006 Princess sells liquuor by the bottle from room service. While not duty-free, the price is quite reasonable.
custompcsys Posted May 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2006 Any alcohol you buy in the shop on board is held until the night before disembarkation. The rule is also supposed to include alcohol you buy in ports and bring on board, but I have read posts from people who have just walked through the security checkpoint with the bottle in their bag without a problem. As another poster said, you can buy bottles from room service or the bar and have them in your room without a problem. Not duty free of course, but reasonable considering where you are. RedmondCruiser Posted May 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2006 Princess has liquor that can be delivered to your cabin. Their prices are very reasonable. ie. a liter of Johnney Walker Black was $38 while on Holland America the price was $87.50. I bought from Princess but not from HAL. By no means purchase liquor ashore. Alaska has some of the highest liquor prices in the US.
