NCLSEA123 Posted May 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2006 We will be on the Elation in June and was wondering what the new Funvision system is. It wasn't on the Jubilee two years ago. Maybe Elation got it in drydock? What kind of features are included in "Funvision" Thanks
bubbles1209 Posted May 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2006 We are going on Elation in June also, I look forward to hearing a reply on this one. My idea of funvision, was getting on the deck with the vision of the ocean and a margarita in my hand. Sounds fun:p Just kidding around, what is funvision anyway? StacyandTim Posted May 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2006 Carnival Cruise Lines Funvision ITV Brady Communications developed an interface for an interactive onboard TV system for Carnival Cruises. A priority was to design an interface that was not only flexible and easy to use but that also appealed to a wide range of people. Through "FunVision", guests can access services such as shopping, room service, games, pay-per-view movies, and ordering shore excursions - all by using their television remote control. The system has been so successful, that the shore excursions desk has been closed and all excursions are now booked through ITV.
perkyblue Posted May 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Wow! Thanks for that info! Do you have to pay for the games that are on Funvision?
Cruise Cat Posted May 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2006 I would hope you can get ahold of one real live person from shore excursions....
Greektreats Posted May 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2006 So when we get onboard Ecstasy on May 25th we will book our excursion through Funvision instead filling out the usual Shore Excursion form??
StacyandTim Posted May 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2006 You will still get the shore excursion form, but it is just so much easier to book through the TV. It gets charged through your S&S card, and your tickets get delivered to your stateroom the same way they would if you used the form. On the Liberty they had the FunVision option, but the shore excursion desk was open sometimes as well.
StacyandTim Posted May 10, 2006 #9 Share Posted May 10, 2006 I never used the games or ordered pay-per-view movies, but I'm sure you are charged for them just like you are in hotel rooms.

davy jones Posted May 10, 2006 #11 Share Posted May 10, 2006 We're taking our first Carnival cruise next month and I am shocked by the fact that you have to PAY for in room movies. Other cruise lines have free scheduled movies on the in room TV, even if they have a movie theater. Are you saying that Carinval charges for ALL in room movies or just movies on demand? Caine Posted May 10, 2006 #12 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Well, that guy who made his whiny video asking for a free cruise said that while they were in rough seas, Carnival was showing "The Perfect Storm" in the cabins. It sounds like some movies are free. Does every ship have this FunVision system?

The FunVision system has been active on most Carnival ships since I believe 2000. This interactive system lets you check your S&S account, order PVP movies, and several other things that I can't remember at this moment. Carnival has a full TV line-up that includes movies. You can order Adult movies and other newly released movies via the PVP screen just like on your home cable or sat system.
Lurkyloo Posted May 10, 2006 #14 Share Posted May 10, 2006 There are some free movies as well as regular TV stations in your room! We were seldom watching and I couldn't tell you what movies were playing when we cruised - I can watch TV at home! ;) The free movies are usually movies that have just been released to DVD/VHS - not movies that are playing in the theaters. My DDs like to take time to hang in the cabin with a movie and room service. They actually schedule it into their day. Since its our first Carnival cruise, I suspect that it may be movie and a pizza. madelinerose Posted May 10, 2006 #17 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Still find it hard to believe that Princess has no interactive tv. Boggles the mind...people actually stand in long lines to check balances, reserve excursions, etc. Was hoping to see changes on the new Crown, but I don't think so.... So has Carnival   It's not on their older ships (similar to RCCL), but has been on their newer ships for years
molme Posted May 10, 2006 #18 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Is this system on the Celebration? Have had it on all of our other cruises, but this is our first time on an older ship. Thanks for the info
