Shuttle from Port Everglades to FLL airport?

Does anyone know if there is a shuttle from Port Everglades back to the FLL airport post-cruise? We are planning to spend a few more days in the area, and are thinking about renting a car, but car rentals are at the airport, and looking for least expensive way to get there from the port. We are sailing on the "Ships and Dips" special Carnival Legend cruise in Jan. 07. Thanks!

From the port to the airport is only a 5.00--10.00 cab ride.

They are very close to one another. When you disembark

your ship there will be tons of cabs right outside.

there is a shuttle specifically for rental car customers. It runs regularly between port and airport. Not sure if it is for all companies or not but do remember seeing alamo, national, etc. scrolling on the sign on side of very brightly decorated bus. When we cruised in Feb. my husband dropped our party off with luggage, returned car to airport and then returned to the port on the shuttle. When we returned, he rode shuttle back to airport, picked up rental, and came back to port for us. Very convenient and no charge. Each trip only took him about 30 to 40 minutes and we sat on benches and people watched.

When you make your car reservation ask if they have a shuttle to the lot from the pier - I have seen most of the major rental agencies there. If they don't have one it is easy enough to catch a cab at Port Everglades and the ride should be under $10.

If they don't have a shuttle so you are forced to grab a cab ask the agency if they are at the airport or off-site. (Why tell a cab driver the airport when he can take you right to the lot if they are off-site?) Most of those that aren't at the airport are very close to it but if you take a cab to FLL then you would still have to wait to get the shuttle back to the agency.
