how much cash should I take ?

Okay this is probably a really silly question, but honestly how much cash should we have available to take with us. WE are going to use our debit card most of the time (visa logo) so I will keep money in there but just curious to how much cash we should take also ? I am thinking the total between the visa debit and cash would be around 1300.00, that would be used for food and souveneirs. We don't have any credit cards, may get one before we go but we really do not want to have any we got ourselves into way to much trouble with credit cards UGH, like having cash/debit.:)

We also use our debit card and figure our onboard account will run us about $100 per day for two of us. That includes drinks, tips, some shopping on board and bingo a couple times, and some gambling. We also take about $600.00 in cash and use that for cabs and tips on the islands. Anywhere on the island that we can use our debit card, we use it. Last cruise we spent 13 days on board and had $300.00 cash left. Hope that helps. Everybody's spending habits are different.

If you drink and shop a lot brings tons of money. If you want to be budgeted bring travelers checks and when they run out you're done spending. Without knowing your budget it's very hard to give suggestions.

Hi there. You'll need to give them a credit card for your ship board expences either before or after the cruise. They always get ours during embarkation. My husband and I usually put close to a $1,000 on our account which covers our bar bill (wine at dinner, cocktails, sodas, photos, massages or ?) on board. This cruise our shore excursions are already paid for, so the only cash we need is for food the days we are in port and little items we don't want to put on a credit card. You can always get a cash advance on board on your CC and I'm assuming it would be the same for a debit card. So if you need more cash, get more on board. There are safes in the room, so no worries. A debit card with the Visa or Mastercard logo also works with your onboard account. Just make sure you have enough money in the account to cover your purchases.

We just returned from AOS, Our sea pass account was $1100 for the 7 days and we spent about $400 in cash on the islands. All depends on what you want to do, DH likes his beer and I like my Bingo....they add up!

We never take much $$. You can get up to $2,000 per day put on you seapass card from the casino, so we go there and get $$ for tips at the end of the cruise or for anything else we might need. You just have to remember to check and see when the casino is open.

How much cash do you take on land-based vacations? No one can tell you what you will be spending! I'm not big on souveniers, so I don't need cash for that. Drinks go on your bill, so you don't need cash for that, either. Gambling--whatever you plan to spend--whether you bring cash for that or put it on your card--you're paying for it one way or another! Bring some small bills for tips, but realize that you can get change for larger bills (which are much easier to carry) once you are onboard!
