HomeLover Posted May 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2006 I have booked a Princess cruise, in a category, in a specific cabin. I am not opposed to the possibility of an upgrade, but I chose the cabin for location. My question, do they upgrade without giving you the right of refusal? I hate to think of having to check my cruise personalization constantly for the next 15 months!!! On Regent, they always called the TA and asked if I wanted the upgade/.Thank you for your input
Kerry & Danny Posted May 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2006 I was told by my TA that they ask before they upgrade, our cabin was changed on Friday, 2 weeks before we cruise....to 1 grade higher but in a lot worse location. I tried to complain, my TA rang princess, and was told I either accept the cabin, or would have to go on a wait list, but this would mean I would have to accept any grade given.....even it was a lower grade that we booked. I have e-mailed Princess direct and they are trying to help, as it is for medical reasons...so if you have a cabin you could live with do not go for a possible upgrade, because we are worse off....I prey princes will be able to help us...we will see...good luck to you anyway... ljtinney Posted May 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2006 If you want that specific cabin and do not want the upgrade, have your TA contact Princess and have the automatic upgrade removed. The option is there.
jlp20 Posted May 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2006 If I am wrong, I’m sure someone will point it out. I believe you have a couple of options when you book. 1. You will accept upgrades automatically. Not sure, but I think the majority of pax go this way. 2. You have chosen your cabin and have no interest in any others 3. Princess will notify you or your T/A of a possible upgrade. You then have a narrow time window to accept or you are passed over and it is offered to the next person. Princess may use the first option as a default should you or your T/A don’t specify a choice.
