cws Posted May 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Here is some more detailed information on The Sanctuary, debuting on the Crown Princess (this is a Canadian release; nothing has been released in the U.S. as of yet although I'm sure it's coming soon): Copyright 2006 Canada NewsWire Ltd. Canada NewsWire HEADLINE: An Ocean of Calm: Introducing 'The Sanctuary' on Crown Princess; Exclusive Haven Debuts on Newest Princess Ship With Dedicated 'Serenity Stewards' to Pamper Passengers DATELINE: SANTA CLARITA, Calif. May 22 BODY: When Crown Princess sets sail for the first time on June 14, those onboard will not only experience a plethora of non-stop onboard activities, but also Princess' newest "pocket of tranquility" called The Sanctuary. An adults-only retreat on the uppermost forward deck of the ship, The Sanctuary offers a relaxing alternative to the myriad outdoor activities and entertainment available elsewhere throughout the ship. Solitude seekers will be able to escape completely to this plush, outdoor spa-inspired setting with signature beverages, light meals, massages, attentive service and relaxing personal entertainment. "Serenity Stewards" Attend To Every Need The presence of Serenity Stewards in The Sanctuary underscores the atmosphere of tranquility and service, offering a respite for relaxation. These stewards are on hand to provide passengers with everything from a chilled face towel and Evian water atomizers, to a menu of healthy beverages and fare. Serenity Stewards will also have personal MP3 players with noise canceling headphones available for rent, loaded with themed playlists focused on relaxation for those who want to escape with music. Al Fresco Massages The Sanctuary will also feature two outdoor private cabanas where guests can also take advantage of the exclusive Lotus Spa Services at The Sanctuary, including sybaritic favorites such as a Deep Tissue Muscle Massage, a relaxing Swedish Massage or a Full Body Lotus Massage especially for couples. Shorter interludes of massage pampering will also be available as massage therapists will offer back, shoulder, and neck massages using special massage chairs. When not indulging in spa services, Sanctuary guests lounge amidst lush greenery, with the presence of gentle breezes, ocean waves, and softly piped-in spa music combining to further insulate the area with relaxation sounds. Guests will relax on plush outdoor furniture including double loungers for couples, as well as deluxe chaise lounges and chairs. And for those looking for a relaxing end to their day, sunset yoga sessions offer the opportunity to unwind and tone their muscles accompanied by nature's beauty. Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of customer service and sales, explains that, "With The Sanctuary, Princess has expanded once again on our concept of choice -- we're not only providing an alternative venue for our relaxing spa services, but also offering passengers the opportunity to escape to a tranquil retreat at any time, day or night." Refreshing Drinks and Healthy Snacks Guests can also refresh with a variety of special drinks and snacks created exclusively for The Sanctuary. Each day Serenity Stewards will be on hand to offer guests an array of drinks and snacks. Signature Sanctuary beverages include healthy smoothies, energy drinks, iced flavored waters and freshly made lemonade. A menu featuring a selection of light bites such as refreshing fruit skewers, lettuce wrapped spring rolls, and spicy tuna pate with baked pita wedges will also be available through the Serenity Stewards. There is no charge to use The Sanctuary, though capacity is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Sanctuary is located on Crown Princess' deck 17, adjacent to the Lotus Spa and the spa's swim-against-the-current lap pool. In addition to The Sanctuary, the 113,000-ton Crown Princess will introduce a number of new design innovations to the Princess fleet, including a dramatic new piazza-style atrium and new casual dining venues. Within the new street cafe environment of the atrium, passengers will find an International Cafe serving up fresh pastries and baked goods in the morning and assorted other offerings throughout the day, as well as a wine and seafood bar. Several signature Princess venues have been further enhanced, including an expanded Sabatini's Italian trattoria with a new piano lounge, and the Crown Grill, a new steak and seafood restaurant with an open, theater-style kitchen where chefs will custom-prepare steamed shellfish and cooked-to-order steaks and chops. The ship will also feature the many hallmark features that define the Princess experience, including the dramatic Movies Under the Stars poolside movie screen, multiple dining and entertainment options, a Lotus Spa fitness center, an extensive children and teen's center, a wedding chapel and nearly 900 staterooms with private balconies. The inaugural 2006 summer season for Crown Princess will feature nine-day roundtrip voyages to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean, and will mark the return of Princess visits to Bermuda, as well as the line's first-ever regular calls to Grand Turk. In the fall the ship will reposition to San Juan for winter Caribbean sailings. Additional information about Crown Princess is available through a professional travel agent, by calling 1-800-PRINCESS, or by visiting the company's website at www.princess.com. AliceJ Posted May 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Finally - some details on the Crown!!! The Sanctuary sounds like heaven to me! It would be great to have an area that really is "adults only" other than the casino. Love my DD, but while she's in the kids' club, some true peace and quiet would be great. Thanks for posting!!!!!! Candy76 Posted May 22, 2006 #10 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Wow! I just started visiting Cruise Critic and I'm booked on the June 23 Crown Princess cruise. The thought of Serenity Stewards taking care of my every need sounds like heaven to me! How creative! I've cruised on Princess a couple of times and have really enjoyed my experiences. A little more pamering can't hurt! :p
Druke I Posted May 22, 2006 #11 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Interesting indeed, but I doubrt that I will ever see it. I am not a fan of the mega-ships! Any ship that cannot fit through the current Pnama Canal locks is too damned big!

barbarah33 Posted May 22, 2006 #13 Share Posted May 22, 2006 Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's wonderful to hear anything about the Crown - it almost seems like Princess doesn't want any of us to know a thing about her. My cruise on her isn't until the end of October so any information is great. And that sanctuary sounds like a wonderful place where I can see the 6 of us sailing on her spending some quiet time. (Please let Princess enforce the no kids rule there.)

Laurab23 Posted May 22, 2006 #18 Share Posted May 22, 2006 It says no charge for the sanctuary but I wonder how much they will charge for the food and drinks? I like the fresh squeezed lemonade idea, would be even better if it is free! Laura
madelinerose Posted May 22, 2006 #19 Share Posted May 22, 2006 I wonder how many bodies at one time? Says it's first come, first serve, but I wonder if there will be a time limit? If not, I'd stay in there from sun up to sundown - lol! ;) It says no charge for the sanctuary but I wonder how much they will charge for the food and drinks? Am I missing something? The "extra deck" is also on the Caribbean Princess. You'd have to ask previous CB passengers about it. I don't see why Crown would be any more crowded than CB.
