Asian Cruises?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

We're planning our wedding and really want to go to asia (mainly Japan cities, Hong Kong and Beijing) but don't know where to start. Is it cold in February there because we've seen no cruises for Asia during that month. Please advise:o

Hi Redfemm,

The weather in Beijing in Feb can be bitterly cold. When the arctic air comes in from the north you have high winds and very low temperatures. Parts of Japan can be very cold with large accumulations of snow. The Japanese current moderates the weather in southern Honshu and Kyushu so that The winters in those areas are actually not too uncomfortable.

We sailed with RCI from Beijing (Tientsin),Shanghai, Korea, Nagasaki, Osaka and Tokyo, some eight years ago. The Yellow Sea and the Japanese waters were so heavily fished that our ship chewed up a number of fishing nets enroute. The passenger count was pretty low, and I suspect that there are only limited cruise opportunities in this area due to demand. You might consider planning part of your trip by air and making a cruise connection in Hong Kong.
