America's Cup/ Orient Beach question

We are booked on the 10am AC Regatta which ends at 1pm. Would we have time to go to Orient Beach on our own by cab after that or would we be better off with the Explorer's afternoon beach excursion? I don't know how congested traffic is in the afternoon and want to make sure we are back to the ship on time. It sails at 6pm. Thanks for your help.

If you're off the America's Cup at 1:00, you should easily be able to catch a cab to Orient and spend a couple of hours before heading back to your ship.

 

I would take the precaution of asking the 12 Metre people to call a cab in advance to have standing by for you when you get back, so that you don't waste any time looking for one then.
