Molly BPOE Posted June 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2006 We are booked for Mexican Riviera Jan. 07. I am concerned that the conditions might be rough and snorkeling non-existant in the Pacific that time of year. Would we be happier with a Caribbean itinerary? Ella2 Posted June 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2006 I've sailed the Mexican Riviera (on the Norwegian Star) in February, and it was PLENTY warm enough to snorkel at the time. It can definitely be COOL leaving L.A. and choppy heading north on the way back, but the Mexico part was VERY warm, and on that itinerary, the water was definitely clear enough for snorkeling. As for whether you would be happier with a Caribbean itinerary...can't answer that. But if you do the Mexican Riviera it is prime whale watching season then, which is quite cool. Good luck deciding! :)

jramsey757 Posted June 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2006  The Pacific is always cooler and rougher than the Atlantic. In the winter months the water is much colder. I am from San Diego and scuba dive and always had to use a wet-suit. good luck

In fact, it is still freezing. Its down the street and I know.
