We will be sailing on RCCL's Vision of the seas to Alaska.

-> Does anyone know if I'm allowed to carry & use an Iron aboard the ship (for ironing my clothes)?

-> Also, does RCCL's ships have a safe in the cabin?

Irons are not allowed on board as they present a fire hazard.

On one cruise we passed by a room on embarkation day that had a lot of luggage in it. Found out that it was luggage that was to be claimed by the owners because it possibly had contraband.

Booze and irons were among the items they had the passengers remove. The ship stored the items until the last night and returned them.

There are a lot of tips on these boards for packing "wrinkle free". We use wrinkle release successfully also. Any formal wear that needs help goes to the ships laundry for a press. We feel that the prices are reasonable. (Actually, cleaning formal wear on the ship is less expensive than our local dry cleaner:) )

check to see if they have guest launderettes on this ship....they do have attached irons in them that you could use....

No irons are allowed on the ship. Royal Caribbean has laundry, dry cleaning and pressing service. They are reasonably priced. There is a price list available at Royalcaribbean.com . As far as I know, none of the Royal Caribbean ships have self-service laundry.

Downy Wrinkle Release works well, as does steaming in the bathroom. (The bathrooms are very compact, so you can work up a lot of steam!)

When on RCI recently, I used the laundry service for two of my outfits. It was very reasonable, and I didn't have to do any work!:)

And yes, please leave your iron at home.

Last cruise, as we were leaving our cabin the passengers in the next cabin must have asked our steward for an iron or some way to plug in an iron. He was leaning in their open door and told them in no uncertain terms that no irons are allowed in the cabins.

I don't know if stewards have time to nose in your belongings, but I can imagine they are told to do something if they find an iron. Maybe they don't confiscate it, but maybe they make it a point to tell you that you can't use it.

I'm relaively sure cabin stewards don't rummage through anyone's belongings in search of items of any sort. I've read several posts from folks saying they had an iron on their dresser or somewhere in view in the cabin - and it WAS confiscated, but returned to them late on the last evening of the cruise. I've asked a few cabin stewards if that's happened to them, and they've told me yes, they are instructed to remove them....which is a good thing.:)
