lozzajelly Posted June 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Going on PofAm and apart from the obvious what shore excursions can you swim on? Reading these boards I am wise to wear a swimsuit just in case!!!! Lozza
CruisinMK Posted June 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2006 The ones with beach days, kayaks, zodiacs, snorkeling/scuba, some of the zipline and hiking tours. Have fun. There's a nearby beach to ship dock on Kauai, and nearby snorkeling on Kona.

Barb Nahoumi Posted June 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Has anyone run into jellyfish problems on Hawaiian beaches? I recently watched a Discovery Channel documentary, re. boxjellies near the Hawaiian islands. They seem to appear within 10 days after full moons. I have been stung before, and it's something I don't care to repeat. Barb

CruisinMK Posted June 18, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2006 They have portugese man-o-war (blue/purple), and box jellies. The man-o-war is what I mostly see on the east coast here (waimanalo), when the wind blows strong onshore. Most days it isn't a problem. If you see a bunch washed up on the beach then they're in the water.. Painful but not harmful unless you have an unusual reaction. Remove it with something other than your fingers... :)
