jenr Posted June 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2004 We just recently got passports and I was just wondering what is best to do...Do you take them onto the islands with you....do you leave them in your safe and take a photo copy of your passport onto the island....what about leaving your passport in the safe and taking you birth certificate on shore or vice versa??? Thanks much! Jenny
Arwenmark Posted June 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2004 I always leave those documents in the safe on board, but will probably start carrying a photocopy of Passport at least. On some cruises you can't take it with you because the cruiseline holds it, as they do with all non US citzens for cruises here. If you cruse on a European line in Europe they will hold your US passport.
imsulin Posted June 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2004 I always leave my Passport in the cabin safe, too, but carry a photocopy with me when I go ashore.
kitty9 Posted June 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2004 If you have a passport, you don't need a birth certificate. Make a copy of the information page and carry that with you. You'd be surprised how great the black market is for stolen passports. It would be very easy for undersirable characters to use a stolen passport to get into the US.
