Rccl Mbna Visa Points Question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Has anyone else experianced that not many people in either MBNA or RCCL know alot about the visa points for RCCL. I have the CreditCard and have accumulated over 25,000. I called 3 times now and finally got someone who could help me.

I want to use 5 x 5000 points which would give me 5 x $50.00 certificates for cruise credit. One person didn't know at all about the program, the second didn't think I could do that and the third had me on hold for almost 10 min checking into it. Finally they said okay they would request 5 x 50.00 certificates.

My question since they could not answer it is, what now?? I should be recieving the certificates in 5 - 7 days.

Do I bring these on the day of the sailing and go to the pursars desk to get the credit??

Or Do they have to be sent to RCCL prior to sailing?? If so, when I am on board will I show a credit or something??

Any restrictions on what can be bought with them. Can alcohol / liqour be bought with that??

Thanks for any help. I wish either RCCL or MBNA would know alittle more about there joint programs.

The people I spoke with at both C&A and MBNA were great. They understood exactly what wanted and were very efficient. Each phone call was a total of maybe 2 or 3 minutes...

Maybe I just got lucky, but it was a very easy process... Did you call the same numbers I did?

I called C&A at 1-800-526-9723 and

MBNA at 1-800-421-2110

When you get the certificates, copy them and mail them into RCL at the address shown on the certificate. I checked with C&A about 2 weeks after I mailed it to check to make sure the credit had been applied. Usually the onboard credits are posted to your seapass account by the second day of the cruise. Bring your copies of the certificates with you in case they aren't posted so you can bring them to the pursers desk to get it applied.

There aren't any limitations to what you can use the credit for.... you can even get cash in the casino with the credit.

Enjoy your cruise. :)

2nd day of cruise, you will visit MENU, SeaPass Account, then your name to see credit on it. Then all charges to the account will show against it. You can also get money at the casino to take home, like a jackpot winner!

If for some reason no credit show by day 3, visit Purser about it with the copies you made ofthe certs mailed to RCCL.

If you are using your RCCL MBNA card as payment for your seapass account, and have the credit available, take as much cash from the casino as you can, save the cash and use it to pay off your MBNA bill when it arrives. The cash taken is not treated as a cash advance so you earn points and it costs you nothing.. I like that:)

Do the points earned DOUBLE?

Does that still work? We used to do this a few years ago on Carnival to avoid the ATM fees, but then I heard that the Casino charges a 3% fee? (Is this only Carnival?)

I avoided taking any cash out of the casino on our last RCL cruise to avoid this, but if this is the case, I will happily start my cruise with an empty wallet as we are aiming for the $125k free cruise. :)

Nevermind, just got my answer here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=383393
