Teach 1st Posted July 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2006 I am leaving for the Freedom in a week and just want to clarify... If you present your sea pass card in the casino, they will give you cash and charge it to your account??? We are doing all outside excursions and will need a fairly large amount of cash. I have always brought cash or trav. checks, but if this is true, I'd rather get the money while I am onboard and have them charge my credit card. I remember reading something about this in the past...but I couldn't find the post. Sorry to bring it up if this has been discussed in the past. But dont tell them you are using the casino as your personal ATM. I believe the limit is $2,500 per day. Happy Sailing
Matisse05 Posted July 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2006 Yes, it's true. I've done it in the past with no problems. Just remember the casino is closed during port hours, so get your cash the night before.:)
beachdiamonds Posted July 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2006 You are smart to use the casino. There is no surcharge. If you use the ship's ATM machine there is a least a $5.00 charge. Anytime we needed cash, we just went to the casino (prior to pulling into port) and presented our seapass.
PADutchman Posted July 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2006 I had to get money from the casino on the Grandeur cruise as the ATM was down all week. No problem.
Motorman23 Posted July 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2006 If you have a MBNA RC Credit Card doing this will actually get you double credits because it shows on the card as an on board purchase not a cash advance so it is a win win situation. AFT_LOVER Posted July 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2006 Get what you need for that day, nothing to be stolen, no safe needed. They charge it to your account, which goes to your credit card & isn't a cash advance so no extra charges. The clerk thinks it is for gambling, but not necessary to do that. The deposit it in the bank when you get home what you didn't need. We hate travelers checks........ I am leaving for the Freedom in a week and just want to clarify... Merion_Mom Posted July 23, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2006 ...and if you feel guilty about deceiving the poor casino cashier, just drop a quarter in a slot machine as you leave. You never know, you might just hit something! ;)

GeoHack Posted July 24, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 24, 2006 Just to clarify, this is for all credit cards, just not the RC one? Yes, all credit cards not just RC. You just get double points with RC.

RArnold7769 Posted September 7, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2006 That's a great idea, we just returned 9/2 and I used the ATM 3 times and I regretted having to do that each time at 5 bucks a pop, next time I will definitely use the sail sign card for cash in the casino. meripour Posted September 7, 2006 #13 Share Posted September 7, 2006 Per RCCl site on cash for casinos - but not necessarily for use in the casinos. We never use the ATM on board for excursion money but via the casino cage. All of our onboard casinos accept the following currencies: Cash Traveler's checks Personal checks (2 per guest, per voyage, not to exceed $450 USD) All types of credit cards You can also use your SeaPass Account with credit card backing for $2000 USD per day, per guest and $100 USD per day for cash accounts. If you'd like a line of credit for more than $5000 USD, this can be set up prior to your departure by Sara Hecker in Casino Operations at 305-982-4847.
