Carnival Secrets they usually don't tell you about

When we ordered the anniversary package to be in our cabin upon boarding it automatically showed up on our s&s cards. Everytime we did something with our cards crew members wished us happy anniversary. then they sang to us at dinner one night, it was so cute and so unexpected. We never asked and had no idea they did this stuff.

How do you and when do you order the anniversary package? Is there a cost for this? We're sailing out Feb. 14th for our anniversary.

Contact the Bon Voyage Department at Carnival. There are several different things that you can order. You can go online and order or call them at 1-800-522-7648. They are only open M thru F from 9am to 5:30. pm. When you order from them, they will email you a confimation of your order. Be sure and print a copy of that and place it with your documents to take with you, just in case. There was only one time we had ordred an item that was not in our stateroom. I showed the steward the copy of the confirmation, and it was taken care of in a matter of minutes.

You have the option of having the items sent to your stateroom, wine, cake, etc, or you can have them sent to your table at dinner on a certain night

Some of the things that we have had, were the anniversary decorations in our cabin. That's always fun, as soon as you first open your cabin door to find it all decorated. Floral arrangements, chocolate covererd strawberries and wine. The little anniversary cakes are really very good, and if you want them delievered to your table, at dinner, the waiters will sing to you. So there are several options to choose from, wine, flowers, etc. Some can be a little pricey, but they do a very nice job.

We are also sailing on a Valentine Cruise. I think they are my favorite cruises. I love Valentine's night as they will have special backdrops for pictures, so you will have the chance to take some really great photos. You will have a wonderful time, congratulations on your anniversary, and Happy Valentine's Day, too!:)

I wanted to order a bottle of scotch to have in the room for DH. It was not listed on-line but was able to order it over the phone. I am sure that there are many other things that you can get that might not be specifically listed on the web interface.

If you order on the phone, ask them to e-mail you a confirmation. I got the impression that this was not normal routine but it was easy for them to e-mail me some kind of receipt.

Also, they can tell you what kind of wine is in the gift baskets etc. (Mine were the same varietals but a different vineyard than what he told me but it was good to know what kind of wine it was going to be).

  1. The hamburgers by the pool deck are not the only food on the Lido. Some people never make it back to the actual buffet.
  2. The food on the Starboard (right) and Port (left) sides are different at the Lido Buffet on Carnival, so check out both sides. The Lido is the only choice for lunch on days you are at a port-of-call.
  3. Check if there are other options, like the deli (made-to-order sandwiches). If in doubt, ask some Carnival employee on the Lido what options there are.
  4. Don't forget the salad bar and the dessert bar and soft serve ice cream.
  5. Make your own milkshake.
    • Get a carton of milk (I use whole white milk).
    • Get a glass (usually next to the ice tea machine).
    • Go to the ice cream machine.
    • Fill the glass about 3/4 with Chocolate soft serve.
    • Add milk.
    • Stir.
    • Yummy. Great with french fries. :)

Has anyone done an up-to-date summary of all the tips? I'm stressing out about trying to go through 140+ pages and not missing anything, but also worried about what might be out dated.

There's a good summary on page 56, although a couple of things might be out of date. I figure if there's someting I'm interested in, I can just ask. If they don't offer it anymore, oh well!

OUCH! I didn't know that. Thanks for the info and clarifing the 22 channel thing. We use those with the ATV's all the time, did't realize they were illegal. Shouldn't there have been something on the packaging when we bought them? They are Motorola.

Well actually the FRS only portions are OK to use without the GMRS license, but there is NO indication what channel is on which service (FRS/GMRS)except maybe the packaging . So they are not illegal to buy, just use. I wish the retailers would inform folks of this.

  • 2 weeks later...
I really hope that people realise that by feeding the fish they not only harm the fish (they are NOT ment to eat cereal or the like!:() but also the whole reef as the corals rely on the reef-fish to eat the dirt/ algae of them so they can live and not die......

Really? The cruise ship itself grinds the uneaten food and dumps it in the ocean for the fish to eat. I saw this on the travel channel all about cruise ships. The fish will not die from eating cheerios or cereal. Many divers do this.

So, if there is not alcohol allowed...someone needs to tip me in on how to get it there!! If you do not want to post here, email me!! angiewiu@hotmail.com I really want to take beer but would settle for hard liquor!

You are allowed one bottle of wine per person and other stuff you just hide in your suitcase - wrap it in bubble wrap or wrap clothes around it.

Before I went on my last cruise I found this thread and thought it would be helpful and a little fun to find many of the secrets on the ship as I have found on this board. Well, most of the "secrets" posted in this thread that I wanted to check out have been found to be false. There is no "cruise critic" book to sign, at least not on the Freedom. No decks of cards to be had at the Pursers desk, which is now called the service desk. No drawing for free Internet minuets and they did away with the pillow mints all together so we couldn't even get extra mints! One of the "tips and tricks" I really wanted to try was the pizza. I could hardly get any service at the pizza counter let alone try to order a whole pizza. Although every time I cruise I find the pizza counter to be one of the worst for service anyhow. Oh and the one "Secret" I found to be the most embarrassing was "volunteer at be the Spa". They don't do this! I also asked our room steward for a foam pad for our bed, NOPE not this one either. Well, all these gave me a fun game of treasure hunt so-to-speak. But most of them turned out to be just not true. And I hope nobody wanted the aspirin samples because they were not there either. And the line to see the doctor was about and hour and half long! So don't open your cabin door and run it across your toes and slice them open. :( Bring on some more "SECRETS" I can try out. It was quite the experience checking into all of them.

Peace :p

I think many of the books have disappeared and maybe some ships never had one. I found and signed it on my first Conquest cruise, but looked on one of the later cruises and it wasn't there.

They still had the drawing on the Conquest in December and we got the chocolate mints every night.

I'm sorry you chased all over. I had a similar kind of treasure hunt when I went to the casino to get lanyards and holes punched in my kid's S&S cards. They won't do it at the casino for kids - only for "players". Sent me to camp carnival which looked at me like I had 5 heads. Finally went to the Fun Shop and bought them for $5 each.

I have 3 kids. I was able to get 5 decks of cards (3 as souvenirs and 2 for the kids and my family to play with).

I guess the moral of your story is to bring a small first aid kit and don't rely on all things here being true for all ships.

Never an issue in October on the Freedom.

Never an issue for us.. only had pizza maybe three times, but it was always fast, hot and served with a smile.

Oh and the one "Secret" I found to be the most embarrassing was "volunteer at be the Spa".

Sorry, but my friends will disagree with you. They were both 'models' the day of the tour.

I think some of the little niceties are specific to ship; had heard the chocolate mints were being phased out on some ships - but we got them on the Imagination in december. Had pizza a few times - usually no problem with service but one night it was quiet, the guy was not out in front. I had to ring the bell and wait a while.

Have tried on the spa model thing, never had any luck. I too was told it was something they didn't do any longer. Maybe it depends on the ship. But I've learned so much from this board, never felt let down if not every piece of info panned out.

Carnival is phasing out a lot of items.

No free past guest Carnival ship pins.

No free chocolates in your cabin on your bed at night.

No free drinks at the Captains cocktail party.

No free drinks at the past guest party.

No free decks of playing cards.

No luggage tags. You must print them yourself.

I like Carnival. I hope it doesn’t turn into a discount cruise line.

I think you still get free lanyards and ball point pens.

I like the pizza stand. They will make Stromboli’s for you.

They have to go into the back to do that.
