Slow Responses from Disney Board..Anyone know if Disney has Lounges Like RCCI?

Recommended Posts

We have only cruised with RCCI and loved the kid's program and hanging out with the adult's at Olive or Twist and the Schooner Lounge. Also loved the bars by the pool. Is there anything like this with Disney or is drinking tabu with them? I know the Magic Kingdom serves no alcohol and by the end of our day there we can't wait to get to Epcot for a margarita!

There are lounges and bars, so no worries. Our favorite daytime place to relax is on deck outside the coffee shop. It's in the adult pool area and only a few steps away from the bar. At night we like to go to the "quiet" lounge after dinner, but there are other, noisier places to go if that's your preference.

There are drinks available on the island also. (Which is so beautiful by the way) They walk around with the "Drink of the Day". I have only sailed on Disney and am now trying out RCCL. We should compare notes when we get back! So far I am thrilled with the price of RC over Disney!

Don't worry, Disney is just as concerned about getting your drink dollars as RCI - maybe a little bit more, as they don't have the casino income that other lines have.

One cool thing about Disney is their 'kid free' zones; they have a whole section of the ship where there are bars: a piano bar, a disco, etc. (As noted above.)

They have one thing RCI does not: nice wood (teak?) deck chairs with thick cushions on the promenade deck, facing the ocean. Bliss!

They also have an "adults only" section of their private beach, with their own special drink (I think Coco Loco, for Coco Cay?).

Definitely, you will have no problem finding a beverage of choice on the Disney ship. My sister and I spent most of our time at the adult pool (with it's bar) on the Wonder, then our before-dinner drink was at the Cadillac Lounge, followed by drinks at the nightclub after dinner. We were so thrilled when we were sitting on the beach at Castaway Cay and saw our favourite server from the adult pool area making her way across the sand towards us, tray in hand! The 'signature' drink was heavenly!

We'll be trying our first RCCL cruise at the end of the year and Disney is a tough act to follow! :D

That's too bad. I loved going up there. It was a nice place to get a snack and drink. I guess my Disney/ESPN glasses are a collectable now!;)

No they still give out the ESPN refillable mug. ESPN has been become a teen area and now Diversions on deck 3 is the sports bar. Diversions is great. The Magic has Beat street has 3 bars Diversions, Rocking Bar D and Sessions. For a quieter drink theres the Promenade Lounge and the Cove Cafe. DCL definately doesn't frown upon drinking. We have done 4 DCL cruise and just got off the Explorer Sunday. It was a different feel on RCL when it came to nightlife. There are many more bars on the Explorer than DCL and it gets wilder on RCL than I have seen on DCL. Both are great ships.

They have adults only areas for you to hang out, even on Castaway Cay. You'll love it. It's one of our favorite cruise lines and we don't even have kids. Enjoy!:D

and don't miss the fresh fruit and steak sandwiches when you're on Castaway Cay- yumm!

Also, watershoes would be a good idea. DH and I saw several sea slugs and urchins when we were there.

Have fun!

I find your comment about the Magic Kingdom so funny because that is where DH and I start out(early a.m.) and then go to Disney/MGM (for happy hour) and then end up at the pub in England at EPCOT. No, we are not alcoholics either, but we are on vacation! Have some fun!:) By the way, love the shopping in Boca! DH is there tonight on business and I tag along anytime I can!!!!
