Westerdam Information

I am looking at booking on Westerdam. I noticed that it was built in 2004 and refurbished in 2005. Does anyone know why it was refurbished so soon?

Just as the Westerdam was being finished HAL introduced the "Signature of Excellence" program, adding certain amenities and revised public areas to the fleet. Several of the upgrades were not included in the design for the Westerdam, so, she was drydocked in 2005 to add many of the upgrades.

 

There was no problem with the ship that necessitated any repairs.

Just got off the Westerdam on June 18 and I can without reservation say that she is in beautiful condition -- clean, sparkling, and well taken care of -- We had NO issues at all during our 7 days on board.

So, would it be safe to assume that any ship not refurbished in the last 2 years does not have the upgraded mattresses, bedding, etc.? ie: Oosterdam

Oosterdam has the new bedding - but not the LG flatscreen tellys, Exploration's Cafe, expanded Club HAL...

...these will be added this fall.

bepfs, do you know when she is going into drydock for the upgrades? I am cruise on Oosterdam on 10/7/2006, thanks
