kitty9 Posted July 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2006 I haven't been to Monte Carlo since they've gone to the Euro, but when they were still using Francs, it was a minimum of 10 Francs and you had to hunt to find those. You realize there is more than one casino in MC. The European casino is black tie required in the evenings and for some of the areas you need an invitation to enter. There's an American-type casino across the road from the fancy one---it looks rather like a TGI Fridays from the outside. You must have your passport with you to enter either casino and to exchange money from US dollars to Euros.
GramaFran Posted July 6, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted July 6, 2006 Thank you for the info - But does anyone have newer info about Monte Carlo, I emailed them and men can wear sport coats until 10pm then need suit or tux. But no answer about bet minimum. Francine
Karynanne Posted July 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2006 I have been to the Monte Carlo Casino twice. Once years ago, and once about 7 yrs. ago. The 2nd time, there was an entrance fee...in francs at that time, and I can't remember the amount. The gambling rules are a little different. If you "push" on a hand of blackjack, the house wins. Not Vegas style. The Casino itself is incredibly beautiful and ornate. Picture the old James Bond seated at a table. It's quieter than U.S. type casinos, and somewhat dressy. But it's a great experience to do something a bit different, in a European atmosphere. Enjoy yourself. Karyn
