HB Cruiser Posted July 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Don't know if you would call this winning big but I got second in the Blackjack tournament when we were on her August 04. Won $504 and a t-shirt. Tim
cb at sea Posted July 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2006 The nickel slots have the lowest payout of anything in the casino! (Actually, slots aren't your best bet, no matter which denomination you play!) Good luck!
babets Posted July 12, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I would call that a win HB! You are prob right CB, but they are just so fun to play and watch. I might break out and play the .25 ones, lol. I like to play Texas Hold'em on the computer. Do they have that in the Casino?
leavnofingerprints Posted July 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2006 A friend of mine won over $600 last fall playing nickle slots. She was playing Money Storm, put in the max and the machine went nuts on the third pull!. LNF
HB Cruiser Posted July 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Babets They did offer Texas Hold-um every day on our eastern Mariner cruise this past May. If my memory serves me correctly, they have a cash game during the day and a tournament about 9:00 pm each night. Please remember, I am doing this by memory, and I have slept since then so I could be somewhat wrong. LOL Tim

I like to play Texas Hold'em on the computer. Do they have that in the Casino? Just watch the slots to see how others have done on them (I think as with any casino they are reset after a big win so the chances of 2 big payouts close together are very slim) and also be sure to check out what the jackpot is on each machine. I was on the Grandeur 2 weeks ago and my hubby and I visited the casino every day, we spent maybe $250 between the 2 of us for the 9 nighter (we both did slots and blackjack – set a limit that we wanted to spend and if we won we would usually just play it out b/c we had predetermined that was our “wasted” money already). On the last night at sea I hit the jackpot on a quarter slot machine and won a t-shirt plus $250. While most wouldn't call it a big win, it was the jackpot and we did break even so it was great to us.
Smiley4 Posted July 12, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Speaking of the casino on the Mariner. Does it have Texas Hold Em now and if so where is the table located??? I have been on the Mariner before but can't figure where they would fit a poker table.
tazdeb Posted July 12, 2006 #9 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Texas hold-um is played in the cigar bar.
Smiley4 Posted July 12, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Thanks Tazdeb. Was it just one table or did they have a couple available?
Smiley4 Posted July 15, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 15, 2006 Hold em in the cigar bar? How bad was the smoke smell and was there 1 table or 2?

cruiseorbust Posted July 15, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 15, 2006 We have been on the Mariner several times and have won enough between my husband and myself enough to pay for our cruise. Of course we had to play in order to win, but if you happen to pick the right machine, it could happen. We were either playing quarter machines, video poker, or a few times $1 machines. I have seen Wheel of Fortune pay very well, as well as that silly Elvis machine. I have seen a lot of jackpot money paid out on the Mariner, but I believe RCL's payout are better than most in the industry....just my opinion. ScottandSarah Posted July 17, 2006 #15 Share Posted July 17, 2006 I wouldn't say it's a big win but perhaps for slots it is. My husband won over $200 playing the $0.25 slots on the Explorer. He always puts in the max bet ($0.75) and was playing The Piggy Bank Game. We've always had good luck with that type of machine and, what makes it even more fun is, you can tell you're going to win even before the wheels have stopped turning. ;) Sarah
Longhorn Cruiser Posted July 17, 2006 #16 Share Posted July 17, 2006 On the Mariner, the Connousseur Club on Deck 5 has been turned into a Poker Room. There are two tables set up for Holdem. There is usually at least one no limit tournament everyday and sometimes two. Every night there is usually a cash game at one of the tables (never enough for two tables on my Cruise over Memorial Day.) The games were $1 $2 blinds no limit - $100 minimum buy in $200 maximum buy in. Most of the players were sound with a few amateurs wanting to learn. There is still cigar smoking in the room. Some nights it was bad and some nights none at all. Si hi to Phil. He runs the games.
