Voyager of the Sea- Hump or Aft? Help

Looking at booking the Voyager for the Med next year and have a choice of on the hump center #7320 or aft balcony #9620. Having never cruised RCCL I have no idea which is better. We love aft cabins but have read the hump is highly coveted. Why? midship? bigger? It looks like the aft has a big balcony? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would take the aft-- more for my money.

Humps are coveted because they are located right there-- by tthe elevators stairs-- easy access to everything/anything-- views for both fron t and back are not obstructed.

But the back --- the balcony is super huge. you dont have to worry about being on the wrong side of the ship for the ports.

Thanks Serene. Being I have only cruised on Carnival I am feeling like a complete newbie venturing out to another line. What are the major differences we will notice if we cruise RCCL vs Carnival in your opinion? We wanted to do the Liberty in the Med but not sure we can get the time (12 days) to do it and this one is only 7 days. Thanks.

I felt the same way when we did the Voyager after sailing Carnival a few times..

And now am booked on Princess.

I found the food and service to be just as good as Carnival. I prefer carnival for nighttime choices of activities.

I had a cabin on the aft of the Voyager. The balcony on Royal puts carnival to shame. I had 2 lounge chairs, 2 regualr chairs plus a small table with room for about 20 people for our CC meet and greet.

You dont want a balcony on deck 6 aft because of the crew deck. nor do you want one on the side because the balcony is metal instead of plexiglass- gives the balcony a kinda closed in feeling.

The room service menu on Royal is more extensive and you can order SOME stuff of the dining room menu during dining times.. so if ya want a hot breakfast from room service-- its there.

Well I ended up with a side aft, 7288 because it has the "porthole" view on the side. Hubby saw the picture of this one and loved it and wished it was available. If you read my other post you will see I messed up booking with an agent that I thought was RCCL direct. Anyway called RCCL direct and asked about this cabin and it was available and I took it. I had not given the other agent my credit card so it worked out. I hope this is a good cabin, looks to have a huge deck!

I am glad to hear about room service since this is a port intensive cruise we will probably like to eat on our balcony in the morning and some evenings. Also since we have so much port time, we will not miss the nightlife, we will need to rest up for the next day. We usually are not big night owls anyway, maybe a show or casino time and a drink is our usual!

I knew you would understand about RCCL vs Carnival and give me the "short and skinny" about it!

You picked a great ship for your first cruise with RC. We liked Voyager so much we are going back on her for a second time :) We are going to have a aft cabin 1688 and this will be a first for us we can't wait! Have a great time on your cruise:)

Voyager Western Caribbean 12/16/06 "Our First AFT"

Voyager Eastern Caribbean 11/05

S.S. Azure Seas Baja 11/90

 Here's my two cents...Just came back from cruising in an aft cabin...Large balcony was great!!!! However, down side.....You are far away from everything....To go to the shows, you have to walk the length of the ship!!! Still it was worth it....If you have never had a Aft Cabin....I say BOOK it....:D
