Lira???

Recommended Posts

Turkish currency is not in big demand in the US. The monetary unit in Turkey is indeed the lira. Your cruise line brochures or website will have information about exchanging money on board.

I don't know if ATM's are handy in Kusadasi.

Yes, all our ships have had an ATM machine BUT be aware that there is a $5 charge each time you use it. Use the ones on shore instead. Often the ship's ATM is not working anyway. Another $$$maker for RCCL. You can get US Dollars exchanged for foreign currency at the pursers desk. ATM's are your best bet for cash and a debit card is the best exchange IMHO.

There were several ATM ashore as you leave the ship in Kusadasi. We used both dollars and New Turkish Lira the two days we were in Turkey, but really had very little need for cash except for trinkets - dollars are OK there. ATMs for cash and credit cards for purchases is the way to go, as stated above.
