Execursion Advise in Hilo - ship or Tom Barefoot

Has anyone been with Tom Barefoot - we are toying with either him or the ship to do either the National Volcano Park or Waipi'o Valley. We particularly don't want to hire a car, so an excursion is our only option, but which one and who with?

I booked a Luau through Tom Barefoot and the person I talked to (Lance) was very nice and extremely helpful. They e-mailed me my voucher and I should be good to go in a little over a week. I don't know that they run excursions though. I was under the impression that it was just a company who ticketed for other excursion companies and things. I am sure they could help you find what you need. FYI, I booked my volcano tour through the ship. I haven't gone yet but am looking forward to it.

Tom Barefoot tours has a good reputation here - haven't heard anything bad about them and many posters have recommended them. Haven't used them myself in the past but it doesn't sound like you can go wrong with them.

Another way to see the volcanoes is by air. We are flying with [url]www.tropicalhelicopters.com[/url]. It appears to be a good tour, and the price is $89 less per person than booking through NCL. Worth looking into!
