Looking for good cheap eats at Pike Market

Recommended Posts

I never pay attention to the names of places at the market but there are LOTS of places to choose from and we have always enjoyed the places we've stopped both at the market and directly across the street. Popular ones are Three girls bakery, Sisters Cafe, Matts in the Market, and there's also a place that has great mini donuts you buy by the dozen just around the corner and to the left of where they throw the fish.

Here's a link to the market's website: http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/frameset.asp?flash=true click on shop and dine and it gives you the listing for places to choose from. Enjoy!

The crab pot is fun.....they serve the dinner on the table, no really, ON the table, no dishes. It's corn, red potatos and crab and/or shell fish. Then they give you a mallet and you crack them and thrown the shells in a bowl on the floor! It's great to by the way. Kids and adults love it. It's in Pikes market area and ask anyone they'll know. You should book a reservation though, it's popular!

I really like Three Girls. I also like to put together a picnic by getting some cheese from the cheese shop (across the street from the main market building), some bread from a bakery (there are several good ones), and some fresh fruit and veggies from any of the farmer stands. Just whatever looks/smells good or fresh. The sausage place in the market building also has some great sausages and they'll cook them up for you if you ask. There's also a good hole-in-the-wall Mexican take-out place near the original Starbucks (again across the street from the main market building) that's really good. So is the piroshki place. There's also a good crepe shop, if you start at the pig, facing the fish shop where all the tourists gather, head to your left, turn left again towards the street, then immediately turn right and it's through a doorway. It's in the same building with Pike Place Brewery. Pretty much all of the food shops along there have been there for a long time so they each have a following, which means they're good. It's nice because you can just buy whatever strikes your fancy.
